  • Give Back in Union County This Thanksgiving With These Tips

    16 Nov 2018

Thanksgiving is a great time to be thankful and give back to others. This season give back in Union County by sharing your resources and time with others. However you can give back, big or small, can make an impact on the local community. Here are some ways you can do just that.

    Donate to a Good Cause

Donating money is the quickest and easiest way to give back. There are so many wonderful organizations that are doing great things locally and worldwide. Find an organization you believe in and donate your spare cash. Need some inspiration? One of our favorite organizations is The Movember Foundation.

    Volunteer Your Time

Get more personal with how you give back and volunteer your time. Serve a meal at a soup kitchen or drop off food with an organization like Meals on Wheels. Maybe you call around to hospitals, senior living facilities or veteran organizations to see if there are opportunities to volunteer. The holidays are a motivating time for people to volunteer so start looking now before spots fill up.

    Donate Food or Supplies

This time of year is great for food, clothing and toy drives. Start your own or donate to one. Community Food Bank of New Jersey is a great resource for food drop offs and how to start your own food drive. Local shelters are always looking for clothing donations, especially coats, gloves and hats for the colder weather.

    Give Blood

Giving blood is a great way to give back, especially if you have are O-negative. It doesn’t cost you anything but a little bit of your time. According to the American Red Cross, “one donation can save up to three lives.”

    Be a Good Neighbor

Invite your neighbor to your Thanksgiving if they’re unable to spend the day with family. Or maybe you just lend a hand or ear to a neighbor in need. Being there for someone is just as impactful as any of the other actions listed above.

We hope you feel inspired to give back in Union County this Thanksgiving. There are plenty of opportunities to make an impact. How do you like to give back?
